William Dunn is a highly accomplished artist and educator, with a background in formal training at San Jose State University and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Throughout his career, he has passionately shared his expertise in watercolor and graphic design through teaching at esteemed institutions such as De Anza and Foothill Colleges in California, as well as the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View. He also served as a department chairman at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
Inspired by renowned artists like Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent, William’s work reflects a loose and expressive style. As a member of both the American and National Watercolor Societies, he has made significant contributions to the watercolor art community.
In addition to his artistic pursuits, William enjoys outdoor activities such as mountain biking and sailing, and holds a black belt in Tang Soo Do. Currently residing in La Honda, California, William takes pride in his role as a father to his son, Garen, who is pursuing his career in Mammoth Lakes in the Eastern Sierra.
William’s artistic legacy is characterized by his dedication to capturing the essence of his subjects and scenes, going beyond the surface to convey their innate mood and character. His passion for art and teaching continues to inspire and influence aspiring artists and enthusiasts alike.
